Bostock House

The Bostock family brought 'Lotus Shoes' to Stafford. Thomas Bostock was the founder of the Bostock/Lotus Shoe manufacturing dynasty. He was the son of a Derbyshire Cordwainer and was apprenticed to his father as a shoemaker.

By 1820 he was making boots and shoes in Gaolgate Street and by 1834 he employed 200 men.

His son Edwin took over the business in 1837.
